The 13 x 6 metre Living & Dining Pavilion is the focal point and social hub of Villa Indah Manis, boasting a graceful shingle roof unobstructed by pillars, therefore giving it the appearance of a floating structure. Open on four sides with sliding glass doors at the front, which can be closed for protection against the elements, the pavilion is flanked by a lotus pond and serenaded by the mellow sound of water bubbling over ornamental urns. A stepping stone bridge marks the entrance, and the soaring roof is lined with bamboo. The pavilion is furnished with a modern dining table that can comfortably seat fourteen. The custom-made furnishings and accessories include three deeply-cushioned sofas, lazy chairs, sideboards, coffee tables, two impressive wrought iron chandeliers, ceiling fans and candelabra.
A stand-alone teakwood Bar rests at the edge of the pool terrace to one side of the Living & Dining Pavilion. This square Bar is characterised by an ’alang alang’ thatched roof and furnished with ten high chairs. The slatted wooden sides have been cleverly designed to hide some discreet lighting, which means that the bar dramatically lights up at night.
The 14 x 4 metre, infinity-edge lap pool is lined with green Java stone, and appears to overflow into the forest below. At the far end, it is sensationally suspended eight metres above the ground and the water is 1.4 metres in depth. There is a 60-centimetre shallow end for kids, and this part of the pool is also very pleasant for sitting in. The terrazzo pool deck is furnished with stylish, high quality, lightweight metal sunloungers and Chinese-style sun parasols. Mini parasols are also to be found throughout the property for the use of guests. There are numerous relaxation areas, strategically positioned in the shade, so that guests will always find a private spot for peace and quiet.
The garden is planted with frangipani and flowering shrubs, and adorned with pots of bougainvillea and a carved frieze depicting characters from The Ramayana.
Two sets of steps lead down to a lower level, below the garden and swimming pool. This area houses a cosy snug known as The Maharajah Room. Decorated in rich reds and complemented by a comfortable built-in L-shaped sofa, silk cushions and framed textiles, the room is equipped with a TV, DVD and surround sound speakers. There is also a library of over 150 DVDs, a refrigerator, and an additional dining table for casual dining. Immediately outside is a special sandy area allocated for Pétanque – a game similar to boules. Unique Pétanque packages are a specialty of Villa Indah Manis. The Kamboja Bedroom is accessed by double Balinese doors. It features a marble floor under a soaring roof, and displays a bold use of colour. Air-conditioned, with the additional provision of a ceiling fan, it is attractively furnished with a king-size bed canopied with diaphanous drapes. There is also a TV and plenty of storage cupboards.
The en-suite bathroom is a stunning example of the romantic Bali style, an open-air bathroom dominated by a sparkling, terrazzo, circular bathtub, where guests can soak under an open sky and enjoy wonderful views of the ocean in complete privacy. It is particularly lovely at night. The Melati Room is designed for kids, and can sleep up to six on twin beds and pull-out sofas with ’Slumberland’ mattresses. This room can be rented solely, or together with the adjoining Alamanda Bedroom, which is furnished with a king-size bed. The Melati Room can also be used as a sitting room to complement the Alamanda Room. Both rooms are air-conditioned as well as being fitted with ceiling fans.

The Istana is located on south western tip of Bali in an area designated the Bukit. This five bedroom estate overlooks white sand beaches and a blue lagoon abundant with fish and living coral, and offers a prime location from which to witness the island’s stunning sunsets. When the trade winds blow, a massive swell from the Pacific Ocean crashes onto the reefs surrounding the area creating waves that attract surfers from around the world; the breaks are rated to be the fifth best in the world, and Uluwatu beach is only a ten minute walk from the villa.
With the property located so close to the holy Pura Uluwatu, one of island’s nine mother temples, the site is spiritually inspiring and undeniably unique. The walkway leads to the huge open-air living room, which overlooks this breathtaking estate. The living room is located at the center of the building, and the rich teak wood floors are accented by the eight-meter high, self-supported, exposed cathedral ceiling. Matching natural wood wardrobes, and a stunning U-shaped sofa bed surrounding a matching table enable the décor to maintain a natural cozy interior, and a large white limestone carving, depicting the legendary establishment of Uluwatu, accents the right wall. The carving represents the arrival of the priest Pedanda Sakti Wawu Rauh, who, according to legend, came to Bali from Java riding on a Kaluwih tree leaf in A.D. 1546, and achieved Moksa, Hindu liberation, at the spot at which the temple was then established.
The open view offers constantly changing natural lighting as the sun moves in the sky from dawn to dusk and into night. At night time, with tactfully placed ambient lighting accenting the villa’s design, one is immersed in the interior, and the villa becomes it’s own expansive private world.
Two symmetrical wings attached to the living room accommodate the bar and dining room to the left, and the Dotcom room to the right. Both rooms are slightly separated from the rest of the space, and are fully paneled internally and externally with teakwood, evoking a warm comfortable feel. The impressive dining room table consists of one solid slab of teakwood, and easily seats ten. This air-conditioned area is enclosed by four sets of swinging glass doors that can be opened if desired, and overlooks the lily gardens to one side, and the expanse of the ocean to the other. The specially designed lighting fixtures in the dining room offer an intimate atmosphere, complimented by the meditative sounds of the water feature in the garden.
The bar area is connected to the dining room by a glass door, and from here one can look into the living room and out over the entire property. Chic barstools line the bar, offering a prime location to enjoy a refreshing cocktail.
The Dotcom room is an enclosed air-conditioned space, which can be opened up if desired to overlook both the front and back of the estate. Dominating the room is a massive relaxation couch, which easily seats the capacity of the house, covered in Thai silk pillows, which faces the wide-screen projection TV and entertainment centre. Alcoves in the back feature desks and internet access, providing a convenient place to catch up with the outside world.
Four bedrooms are located down open corridors, two of which lead past the dining room, and two of which lead past the Dotcom room. Each suite entry is decorated with carved limestone blocks representing traditional Ikat weavings from the islands of Flores and Sumba.
Each of the four matching suites is comprised of a bedroom with a capacious walk-in closet, and indoor and outdoor Bali-style bathrooms. All of the bedroom walls are faced with timber paneling to mid-height with white sand wash on top, leading up to the high cathedral timber-lined ceilings with ceiling fans, and air-conditioning.
The furniture in the bedrooms was designed especially for The Istana, as were the exquisite lighting fixtures, and are made exclusively of recycled teakwood. The décor in each room is primarily the same, with differences in the color schemes. All of the bedrooms are walled on two sides by folding glass doors which open up to the private gardens in the case of the bedrooms facing the entrance of the property, and on the other side which open onto the ocean.
Each bedrooms’ ensuite bathroom is walled in white sandstone and feature bands of intricate designs in carved stone. All have huge teak-framed mirrors above twin vanities set in wood. The indoor showers have huge rain-heads, and are enclosed on two sides with glass but open to open-air private gardens with sunken bathtubs, allowing for immersion al fresco.
The master bedroom is located within the guesthouse, which is separate from and slightly more elevated than, the main building, and set back so as to offer complete privacy. It has its own entrance way, parking facilities, and private swimming pool. The L-shape pool is two and a half meters deep and is faced with a black volcanic stone. It has its own outdoor shower and lounge chairs.
The master bedroom/guesthouse which is built completely from wood is divided into a covered deck, private kitchenette, living area, and a bedroom with a expansive ensuite bathroom. The living area and bedroom both look out over the property, and are enclosed on either side by sliding louvered glass doors. A spectacular view of the ocean is provided from the massive ironwood bed which is the center piece of the room along with its palatial mosquito net. The bathroom is much like those in the main house; only it has both an indoor and outdoor shower. A large day bed sits on the deck and one can look directly out from over the private pool to the relaxation bale and the horizon behind.
Set near the cliff face adjacent to the property’s Hindu shrine, the relaxation bale is composed of a white, solid stone bench encircling a large wood table. This creates a luxurious setting, ideal for dining or just for sitting and relaxing. At sunset, the island’s volcanoes are silhouetted against northwestern skies, and form one of the most spectacular settings of anywhere in the world. During the night, fishing boats, carrying twinkles of light travel constantly across the vast expanse of ocean, provide for a magical, constantly changing backdrop.
The grounds of the property are in two levels. The upper level consists of a large grass lawn of thick, comfortable grass and two water gardens with fountains to either side of living room. Tall coconut palm trees create shaded areas without obstructing the sea view, and are lit at night, brushing the lawn, water features, and swimming pool with a serene glow.
The thirty meter long swimming pool is set on this level, and offers a breathtaking side to side infinity line leading to the ocean background as the waters spill over the edge nearest the ocean. It is 2.4 meters deep at one end, and two meters deep at the other, and is faced with a green granite stone originating from West Java. Starting with the fashion of a spring bubbling, a backlit waterway aligned to the main axis of the building traces across the lawn leads into the pool and makes for a striking light show at night.
The lower level of the property consists of succulent ground cover and a meticulous sprawling lawn, lined along the cliff-side by five meters of spiky bougainvillea to dissuade any wanderers and to create a subtle contrast with the lawn. This large area is ideal for wedding parties or events.
For additional guest comfort and convenience, The Istana comes with a chauffeured vehicle service included in the price. The villa’s late model two litre luxury vehicle, which seats seven passengers, is fully air conditioned and features a VCD player with dual monitors and a mini fridge. The villa chauffeur is on standby for up to ten consecutive hours every day.

Four Bedroom Villa is the largest villa of Heavenly Residence. An architectural marvel in itself, the villa is set in steps cascading down the cliff, like paddy terraces, and took over 18 months to build. Called Villa OMG for ‘Oh My God’, it is named after the gasps of involuntary surprise made by those who set foot upon this villa for the first time.
That awe is well deserved: first, it is huge, at 700 sq m (7,534 sq ft), and second, from the 180-degree views available from the villa, it appears as though the Indian Ocean has just been laid at one’s feet, wide and endless. The 25-m long (27-ft) infinity-edge lap pool has its long sides pouring out seaward. A mere glimpse is surely an invitation to sit in the inset jacuzzi and try to figure out where the sea, the horizon and the pool’s edge meets.
Once out of the water, there is also a long ironwood sundeck, complete with a “bale” and lawn, offering equally splendid views. With a capacity of 50, a more dramatic setting for a glamourous party or wedding would be hard to imagine. But Villa OMG is more than its exterior. Acid washed marble flooring flows through the villa, which is filled with woven rattan and seagrass furniture. Thai silk of various colours are used to denote different areas of the villa: bronze for the games room, charcoal grey for the dining room and blue for the living room. The luxurious interior also contains thoughtful touches of Balinese culture, such as a 6-m long abstract canvas from local artist Wayan Gabrig in the living room.
To accentuate the extraordinary nature of Heavenly Residence’s location, the dining room walls are white, to resemble the limestone of the cliffs, while a tropical coral fish tank brings ocean life to the guests’ very eyes. In the quiet, unspoiled village of Lodtunduh, three kilometers south of Ubud, Villa Pantulan overlooks verdant rice fields and Mount Batukaru. Villa Pantulan comprises four pavilions, Pantulan Spa and a bale. All buildings have traditional alang alang roofs (thatched), wood and terrazzo floors. The five bedrooms, which sleep ten comfortably, have sliding louvered and glass doors that open up completely to allow the cool mountain air to circulate and all rooms have ceiling fans.
The villa is built around several water features including a reflecting pond, lily pond, swimming pool and a small bamboo forest waterfall. It is well suited for small weddings, a health/yoga retreat, or a corporate team seeking privacy and luxury.
We take great pride in the beauty of our home and have furnished it with many exquisite works of art both modern and antique. Great care has been taken to provide our guests with as many amenities as possible. Villa Pantulan is an eco-friendly property. Our water is pumped from an underground well, which guarantees purity. All waste water is biodegradable with an underground filtration system and all outdoor water features are recycled. The pool is salt-water treated and chlorination is kept to a minimum. We use only biodegradeable soaps and compost all our organic wastes. Each week all glass, plastic, metal and paper is recycled through a local recycling program.

Located less that half an hours drive from Bali’s International Airport, and only ten minutes from the restaurant and nightlife center of Seminyak and Legian, Villa Banyan is a newly renovated magnificent property.
Within the estate itself, following a compound style that is very common in Bali, are six individual structures. Starting from the main entrance after the parking lot, staff and security quarters, the main house is adjacent to the large sundeck which holds the swimming pool, next is the guest house, the gym, and two outdoor bales (traditional Balinese gazebos). A staff of sixteen is on hand to ensure that your stay is a pleasant one. There is a safe located on the property with which to safeguard guest’s valuables.
The first thing guests will notice upon entering Banyan Estate is the impressive “Banyan Tree” positioned in the middle of the complex that towers above the dining bale that features an wooden antique round table and six chairs.
To the west lies a small lawn, scattered with tropical flowers and strands of young bamboo. The property is roughly triangular shaped, bordered on two sides by high walls and on the longest side by a small river.
Owing to its large size and detached structures, there are many separate and distinct areas where guests can congregate in large numbers or break up into smaller groups depending on how the mood strikes them, making it eminently suitable for hosting large groups of people and entertaining.
The main house is made up of two floors with a large wrap around deck on the second floor, topped by a alang-alang (thatched) roof. At one end of the main floor is the dining room with its stately sixteen-seat wooden table that was custom made for the villa.
Separated by a wide counter, complete with bar stools, is a large open plan western style kitchen, fully furnished with western facilities and amenities. At the other end of the main floor is a bedroom with en-suite bathroom.
All these rooms look out onto the large white sandstone sundeck complete with six spacious deckchairs, that hosts a large blue tiled 12m kidney shaped swimming pool, and a smaller one adjacent to the other, containing built-in seats suitable for lounging.
Next is the stairs leading to the second floor. Upstairs, we find three bedrooms and the balconies. At one end is the master bedroom with its own marble tiled en-suite and large walk-in closet. The bedroom opens onto a large wrap-around deck that overlooks the estate.
At the other end of this floor are the other two bedrooms. Both these rooms share a communal bathroom and one of the rooms has access to its own private balcony. Separated from the main house and the pool by approximately fifteen meters is the guesthouse. It sits beside the river with a small wooden deck, table and chairs and has an alang-alang roof similar to the main house. Contained within are two large bedrooms, each with its own en-suite Bali style (open-air) bathroom.
The gym lies behind the guesthouse, next to the river, in its own small building, again with an alang-alang roof. The front has a wooden deck overlooking the river. Inside is a large multifunction machine for weightlifting, along with gym mats and space for other exercise pursuits.
All the buildings are painted in warm earthy colors set off by the white deck, green grass, thatched roofs, and the green ivy flowing down from the second floor of the main house producing a very Mediterranean feel.
Terrazzo has been used for the all the floors, leaving them cool to the feet in the tropical heat of Bali. Ceiling fans provide extra ventilation in all living areas throughout the property, and all the bedrooms have air conditioning. Antiques and Balinese statuary are displayed in the house and grounds of the estate.
In front and off to one side of the main house is the outdoor dining bale. Between the guesthouse and the main house is the Massage bale. A semi covered pavilion that contains day beds and cushions, providing a perfect setting with which to enjoy the scenery or an afternoon massage.
Banyan Estate represents an interesting mix of Balinese and Western architectural features, offering a compound that fits into the surrounding rice fields and tropical flora, while sacrificing none of the modern day comforts.
The Banyan Estate is fully serviced by A Western house manager. Oversees and coordinates the staff and property and is available to assist and liaise with guests during their stay. 2 full-time cooks Trained in both local and international cuisine. A menu is provided, and the cooks will do all the market shopping. 6 maids they are responsible for cleaning the buildings every day, taking care of your daily laundry while providing waiter service around the pool or the dining room table. 4 security guards duties are to patrol the grounds and guard the entrance of the estate from dusk to dawn ensuring your safety. 3 garden and pool maintenance men. There are a few luxury villas in Umalas with 4 or 5 bedrooms though, however they are rarely becomes available and therefore reservation made in advanced is highly recommended.
